1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the AreaScore iOS app or visiting areascore.co.uk ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
AreaScore aggregates publicly available data — including crime statistics, school performance, transport accessibility, and green space coverage — to generate neighbourhood scores for London postcodes. The Service is provided as an informational tool only.
2a. Beta Service
The AreaScore web app is currently offered as an invite-only beta. During the beta: access may be granted, limited, or withdrawn at any time; features and data may change or be removed without notice; and availability is not guaranteed. The beta is provided free of charge and "as is", without warranty of any kind. We may introduce paid plans in the future; if we do, we will give existing users clear notice before any charge applies.
3. Informational Purposes Only
All scores, ratings, and data provided by AreaScore are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional advice. Specifically:
- Scores are estimates based on publicly available data and may not reflect current conditions
- Data sources include government statistics which may be updated periodically; AreaScore may not reflect the most recent data
- AreaScore scores should not be used as the sole basis for property purchase, rental, or investment decisions
- We recommend consulting qualified professionals (such as estate agents, solicitors, and financial advisers) before making property decisions
4. Data Sources
AreaScore uses publicly available data from UK government sources including the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Metropolitan Police, Department for Education, and Transport for London. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this data.
4a. Advertising and Affiliate Links
Parts of the Service carry commercial links to third-party companies, including removals, broadband, energy, insurance and storage providers. These links are labelled where they appear. If you click one and go on to make a purchase or request a quote, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
- Commercial arrangements never influence our scores, rankings, or the data behind them. No company can pay to alter a score or its position in a ranking.
- We do not provide, endorse or guarantee the services of any third-party company we link to, and we are not a party to any contract you enter into with them.
- Any dispute about goods or services you buy from a third party is between you and that company.
- We do not check the availability, price or terms advertised by third parties, and these may change without notice.
4b. Business Directory Listings
The Service includes a directory of removal companies. Inclusion in the directory is not a recommendation, endorsement, accreditation or warranty of any kind.
- We do not inspect premises, vet staff, verify insurance cover, or check the financial standing of listed companies. You should obtain written quotations and confirm insurance yourself before booking.
- Where a company is shown as a member of a trade body such as the British Association of Removers, that reflects our understanding at the time of checking. Membership can lapse, and you should verify it directly with the trade body.
- Listings marked "Featured" are paid placements. Paying for a featured listing affects position within the directory only. It does not affect, and cannot be used to influence, any AreaScore score, ranking, or the underlying data.
- Contact details, coverage areas and other listing information may be out of date or incorrect. We make no warranty as to their accuracy.
- We may add, amend, decline, suspend or remove any listing at our discretion, including where information proves inaccurate or where we receive credible complaints.
- If you are a listed company and wish your listing to be corrected or removed, contact support@areascore.co.uk and we will action it within a reasonable period.
5. Use Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute our data or scores without permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
- Use the Service to discriminate against individuals or groups
6. Intellectual Property
The AreaScore app, website, scoring methodology, and design are owned by AreaScore and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The underlying public data remains owned by the respective government bodies.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will be accurate or complete.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AreaScore shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to decisions made based on area scores.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
